SHAC is a Faribault community resource that brings parents the information they need about community funded programs for kids. It is also a resource for youth who are looking for something to do in the Faribault area. We also connect the community resources here in one place to create a network of programs that are all connected and working together.
What does SHAC do?
With afterschool programming provision, support for college access for all, youth room space, youth information orientated website, and a city wide youth summit celebration we build capacity within the community to support the positive youth development and avenues for youth voice within the Faribault area.
We believe that the well-being of the community's children is a crucial indicator of the whole community and work to implement programs that meet the challenge of raising healthy children.
What does SHAC mean?
The phrase, “So How Are the Children” communicates a belief that the health and well-being of the community's children reflects the health and well-being of the whole community.
Our children need to develop a wide range of positive life skills and pro-social behaviors in order to make healthy choices.
To spread the word that the health of our children is of vital importance to the community, we promote a variety of efforts and avenues for youth voice within the Faribault community.
